Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the royal queens had to find a new way to perform their hit show and that’s one way to get back on the road! SIX will return to the UK stages this summer, becoming the first West End musical to do so since theatres shut down their doors around the world. The show will now play in open air sites, festival-style, with audience members attending the show from their very own parked vehicles in a private area.
Aside from the sitting plan, the show will remain the same with all the songs performed by the queens, its “Lady In Waiting” live band and full production elements. Big screens will also project the performance throughout the playing arena for everyone to enjoy.
This will be organized in collaboration with Utilita Live From the Drive-In, a program from Live Nation putting on live performances, in accordance with government guidance and restrictions. The musical will play multiple performances in 12 spaces accross the country. Each venue will be equipped to accomodate around 300 vehicles. Careful, no more than 7 people per car!
“With the industry in crisis, theatres struggling, and some even going out of business, this drive-in event offers hope for the future, and equally importantly, jobs for about 50 of our company,” Kenny Was, producer, said, adding that “rehearsals and travel will take place in a bubble” and follow sanitary rules.
Tickets for the drive-in shows will go on sale July 3 at LiveNation.co.uk. See the full schedule below.
