The Lightning Thief : The Percy Jackson Musical is heading to Broadway

Look, He didn’t want to be a halfblood, but we’re just glad he is! Previously seen Off-Broadway and on tour -playing its last performance on july 27th, the hit musical will arrive on Broadway in september 20 at the Longacre Theatre. The theatre was last home to The Prom. 

The Lightning Thief : The Percy Jackson Musical will run for a limited 16-weeks engagement and will have its opening night on october 16.

After making its New-York debut in 2017 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre where it played an extented run, the musical launched a national tour in January, including a March engagement at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

But who will step into the role of Percy Jackson? Past cast members include Chris McCarrell who reprised his title role for the National Tour; Kristin Stokes, who played Annabeth in the off-broadway production and on tour. Also part of the two production : Sarah Beth Pfeifer as Clarice and James Hayden Rodriguez as Luke. From the touring production, the cast also featured Jorrel Javier as Grover/Mr.D, Ryan Knowles as Chiron, Jalynn Steele as Sally, and Izzy Figueroa, Sam Leicht, and T. Shyvonne Stewart as understudies.

Casting for the Broadway production should be announced later on.

The musical is based on the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books by Rick Riordan and follows the story of a young kid who discovers he is the son of a greek god -Poseidon, and is in the middle of a godly war he can’t control.
