Hackney Empire to celebrate its 120th anniversary with special events

120 years of theatre, that’s something right? Hackney Empire will launch its birthday celebration on Tursday 9 December. A year of special shows and events to celebrate the theatre’s 120th anniversary. And of course, a giant birthday cake will be cut on stage by the venue’s Patron and Pantomime Dame Clive Rowe. The Lion, the Witch & The Wardrobe Tour Adds Two New Dates

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has been extended with the addition of dates at New Wimbledon Theatre (12-16 April 2022) and the Bristol Hippodrome (3-7 May 2022). This week the show is in Aylesbury and continues its journey of the UK and Ireland to Southampton next week, then Sunderland, Salford, Cardiff, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Edinburgh, Canterbury, Plymouth, Glasgow, Birmingham, Dublin, Woking, Norwich, Wimbledon and finally Bristol in May 2022. Forced to close in March 2020 due to the pandemic, The Great Gatsy, created and directed by Alexander Wright, The Great Gatsby, will be playing at Gatsby’s Mansion at Immersive LDN in Mayfair until 30 October 2022. Lucie Jones leads the 2022 London Cast Of Wicked

Lucie Jones (Elphaba), Ryan Reid (Fiyero), Sophie-Louise Dann (Madame Morrible) and Gary Wilmot (The Wizard) will lead the new London cast at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from Tuesday 1 February 2022. The current cast, who includes Laura Pick, Sophie Evans, Alistair Brammer, Kim Ismay and Andy Hockley will play their final performances on Sunday 30 January 2022. Petula Clark celebrates birthday at ‘Mary Poppins’

Petula Clark, who currently plays Bird Woman in the West End production of Mary Poppins, was surprised by the cast at the curtain call on November 15t, 2021 for her birthday.  She was acclaimed by producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh who presented her with a birthday cake brought on to the stage to the tune of Don’t Sleep in the Subway, one of her many iconic numbers. The Company, along with the audience, then sang a rousing Happy Birthday. As an extra special treat, the cast sang Downtown, another one of Petula’s all-time hits, a final round of Happy Birthday, and plenty of streamers rounded off the celebrations! The project led by Olivier Award-winning producers Louis Hartshorn and Brian Hook and Butterfly Theatre are launching the first Immersive Acting School.
