Jamie’s name will be in shining lights once again. The movie adaptation of the UK musical sensation “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie” is coming to theatres on October 23, 2020, as confirmed by the 20th Century Fox in a tweet.
The UK musical, created by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae, is itself based on the 2011 BBC documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. The story follows Jamie, a young drag queen who overcomes hates and prejudices to become his own person and finally step into the spotlight.
The movie will star the young Max Harwood as Jamie and Academy Award Nominee Richard E. Grant as Hugo, also known as Loco Channel. The cast also includes Sharon Horgan as Miss Hedge and Sarah Lancashire as Margaret New. Jonathan Butterell and Kate Prince, director and choreographer of the London production, will also reprise their work for the movie adaptation.
Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is still running at the London’s Apollo Theatre through January 2020.
