Robert Schenkkan’s The Great Society is heading to Broadway with previews beginning Sept. 6, and additional casting just came out Monday.
New casting includes Bryce Pinkham as Senator Robert F. Kennedy, Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Gordon Clapp as J. Edgar Hoover and Tony Award winner Frank Wood as Senator Everett Dirksen.
As previously announced, they will join Brian Cox as Lyndon B. Johnson, Marc Kudisch as Richard J. Daley, Grantham Coleman making his Broadway debut as Martin Luther King Jr. and Richard Thomas as Hubert Humphrey, as all actors portray over 50 characters.
The play follows Lyndon B. Johnson’s legacy, from his triumph in a landslide election to the decision not to run for re-election three years later. It will premiere at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center.
