Sunday is the Day!

Broadway’s biggest night is around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited about this season! Taking place at the iconic Radio City Music Hall on June 7th, the 79th Annual Tony Awards will celebrate the best of theatre with performances from all of the nominated shows, including The Lost Boys, Schmigadoon!, Titanique, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), Ragtime, Cats: The Jellicle Ball, and The Rocky Horror Show.

Adding to these, it’s also been recently announced that we will get an exclusive performance from Chicago to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary on Broadway, featuring Queen Latifah, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Alex Newell, Julianne Hough, Whitney Leavitt, Dylan Mulvaney, and more. Moreover, The Book of Mormon is set to receive a tribute for its 15th anniversary, with Tony winner Nikki M. James and Tony nominees Josh Gad, Andrew Rannells, and Rory O’Malley to perform.

Who’s Hosting?

This year will see the legendary pop star P!NK take the stage at the Radio City Music Hall to host the Tony Award Ceremony. The singer has recently relocated to New York City to help her daughter Willow pursue her dreams of being on Broadway. Ever since, P!NK has been spotted around the city, going to see all the shows Broadway has to offer and getting to know more about the community and traditions! We cannot wait to see what she has in store for us – perhaps some flying around? If the vampires from The Lost Boys can do that at the Palace Theatre, there’s no limit to what P!NK can do!

What are the Odds?

Leading the board, with 12 nominations each, The Lost Boys and Schmigadoon! are set to run a tight competition on the night! Having seen both shows, we cannot emphasise enough how much they BOTH deserve it. It’s going to be so hard to have to pick one over the other, especially as they are so different, from their genres to their performances. We will be cheering for them all the way from across the pond, that’s for sure.

Between heartwarming comedies, breathtaking dramas, and talents beyond belief, this year has us sitting on the edge of our seats. So, let’s dive into it, shall we?

Our Predictions

In the Best Play category, we predict that either Liberation by Bess Wohl or Giant by Mark Rosenblatt will take home the award. Although Liberation has been closed since February 1, 2026, we heard very strong and positive reviews about the show, which sheds light on the early days of 1970s feminism, all the while having a diverse cast. It’s the kind of play we want and need to talk about right now. In terms of Best Revival of a Play, Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, starring Daniel Radcliffe, received acclaimed appraisal from both the public and the critics, so we wouldn’t be surprised if it wins on Sunday. Oedipus is a strong contestant, especially after its Olivier Award win across the pond last year.

Oedipus and Every Brilliant Thing may face each other in several categories, including Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role, as both Daniel Radcliffe and Mark Strong deserve the nomination and award – Mark Strong already having been nominated for an Olivier in 2025 for the same character. But maybe we will see Radcliffe winning his second Tony? Similarly, for the awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, the odds are looking at Lesley Manville in Oedipus, having also been nominated in 2025 at the Olivier Awards for the role – and won! Manville might find tough competition facing Kelly O’Hara for her performance in Fallen Angels – but our bet remains on Manville!

For Best Featured Performers in a Play, we are looking at Alden Ehrenreich for Becky Shaw and Laurie Metcalf for Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, the play having also received a lot of praise during its run on Broadway.

Oedipus might be a favorite this year at the Tonys regarding Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design. However, for Best Costumes, we think the odds are in favor of Paul Tazewell for August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone – Tazewell having won a Tony last year for his work on Death Becomes Her. The award for Best Direction of a Play will possibly be awarded to either Death of a Salesman or Liberation – we are rooting for Liberation

Now, looking at the nominees for Best Musical, competition is tight with Schmigadoon!, The Lost Boys, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), and Titanique. We’re personally rooting for The Lost Boys this year, as we were completely blown away by the talents on stage, the magic of the atmosphere, and the originality of the show. It really stands out from everything we can see in the theatre, here or in the West End. The Lost Boys might be the spark we are missing?

That being said, we do believe Schmigadoon! has a really strong chance to win Best Musical – the show being incredibly well done and orchestrated. It is really a spectacle to be seen and raved about!

Regarding Best Revival of a Musical, I think it’s safe to assume that Ragtime will bring that home. We heard only amazing things from that production, and it’s very likely that legend Caissie Levy will (finally) be getting her well-deserved Tony for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical. After shining on Broadway for the past 20 years, it’s almost surprising to know that this is Levy’s first nomination… If it ends in a win for her, it would have been all worth it! We are also rooting for Joshua Henry from Ragtime, for Best Actor in a Musical – the talents on that stage are to die for!

Although we ADORED Ana Gasteyer’s performance in Schmigadoon!, we do believe that Shoshana Bean will be awarded the Tony for her performance as Best Featured Actress in The Lost Boys. This marks Bean’s third Tony nomination, and she has received applause after applause for her genuine talent and outstanding vocals. Having been on Broadway for as long as Levy has, this seems very deserved as well. As for Best Featured Actor, we are personally rooting for Ali Louis Bourzgui, for his mesmerising performance in The Lost Boys, but the award might very well be taken home by Layton Williams – having won an Olivier last year for his role in Titanique.

Now, talking about The Lost Boys, we really believe – despite being slightly biased – that the show has the potential to win big during the Tonys. The music, written by The Rescues, is to die for and could very well bag Best Original Score. Moreover, the Scenic Design (Dane Laffrey), Lighting Design (Jen Schriever and Michael Arden), and Sound Design (Adam Fisher) could also be awarded to the musical, as every means is employed to make you jump out of your seats and transport you to a haunted Santa Carla… We loved the costumes as well, reminiscent of the 1980s, but Linda Cho will most probably win that one for Schmigadoon! – or maybe even Ragtime

Two Strangers are up for a few awards as well, and we think that, despite the competition, they have a good chance to win Best Book for Jim Barnie and Kit Buchan – the story being quite original and upbeat. The award for Best Direction might go to Cats: the Jellicle Ball (Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch) for its unconventional way of staging the musical revival, and Best Choreography might be a tight fight between Cats (Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons) and Schmigadoon! (Christopher Gattelli). Doug Besterman and Mike Morris might also win for Best Orchestration for Schmigadoon!

Whatever happens on the night, we are so looking forward to it and celebrating both nominees and winners – everyone worked so hard during this 2026 season!

And you? Who are you rooting for? Who do you think should win this year? Let us know!
