God, we hope you’re ready for a show about death!
Nineteen months after the stage adaptation of the beloved Tim Burton film shut down on Broadway due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has announced its grand return!
The first performance is set for April 8, 2022 at a new venue, the Marquis Theatre. Before the pandemic, the show played at the Winter Garden Theatre, where it opened on April 25, 2019 after it began preview on March 28, 2019. Back in December 2019, it was announced that Beetlejuice had set its closing for June 2020 as the Winter Garden was to be occupied by a revival of The Music Man. The pandemic therefore cut short Beetlejuice‘s already shortened run. Audiences will surely be delighted to return to the show next Spring!
Beetlejuice tells the story of Lydia, a young teen who has recently lost her mother and meets the ghosts of the couple who lived in her house before she moved in, as well as a strange demon named Beetlejuice.
Directed by Alex Timbers, the show has a book by Anthony King and Scott Brown, music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect and choreography by Connor Gallagher.
The cast of this new run is yet to be announced.
