Ahead of its return at Theatre Antoine on January 4th, new casting has been announced for Le Cercle des Poètes Disparus.
Starring as Neil Perry will be Basile Sommermeyer, who previously appeared as Joseph Bejart in Molière, l’Opéra Urbain. He will be joined on stage by Xavier Gallais as John Keating. The rest of the cast includes Octave Lemarchand, Julien Despont, Lancelot Jardin, Vincent Németh, Christophe Laubion, Paul Vasseur, Victor Mons, Antonin Dalvy, Gabriel Ecoffey-Zeller.
After their new English professor, John Keating, inspire them to make their lives extraordinary, Todd Anderson and his friends resurrect the Dead Poets Society. Free from the constraints and expectations of school and parents, they let their passions run wild. But as they discover the beauty of language and the importrance to make each moment count, can they survive the pressure from the authorities to destroy their dreams?
Le Cercle des Poètes Disparus first opened at the Théâtre Antoine before transfering at the Théâtre Libre in 2024. Overall, the show played 195 performances and is getting ready to embark on a national tour that will also visit Belgium and Switzerland. The original cast is set to join the tour.
Throughout its run, the show earned 6 Molières nominations, including Best Show, Best Actor for Stephane Freiss and Best New Artist for Ethan Oliel and Audran Cattin.
